Cry of Fear is a survival horror game developed by independent Swedish studio Team Psykskallar. Though originally a mod for the video game Half-Life in 2012, it was released as a standalone product the following year.[2][3]
Cry of Fear features many unique mechanics, such as the limited inventory system, which allows the player to carry only 6 items at a time and does not pause the game while the inventory screen is open. Another unique mechanic is the ability to dual-wield inventory items, allowing the use of two weapons at a time, or one weapon and a light source. Item combination is also possible from the inventory screen. Health is recovered by the use of morphine syringes, which can blur the player's vision if overused. Stamina is consumed through strenuous actions such as running and jumping, and can be recovered by resting or the use of morphine syringes.
Some days before Cry of Fear's anniversary, Valve released a Half-Life update for Linux compatibility, making changes in the folders and engine. This update made several Half-Life mods, including Cry of Fear, incompatible with the base game. Team Psykskallar decided that, since no more could be done for the mod itself, they would finish a standalone version. Confusion due to Valve regarding Cry of Fear's status as freeware caused the game to be delayed until April 25, 2013.[7][8]
Simon leaves the forest and rows through a lake to his hometown. He finally reaches his house and expects his mother to be waiting for him but the house is empty. He enters his bedroom and finds a book. Through a flashback, the player finds out that the entire story was a figment of Simon's imagination. After the car crash, Simon had become reliant on a wheelchair. Depressed, his therapist (who was the doctor in the game) advised him to document his feelings in a book. The character controlled throughout the game was a concocted version of Simon, and all the monsters represented the trauma in his mind. Cry of Fear has five different endings depending on the player's choices.

Starting out life as a mod, Team Psyskallar developed Cry of Fear became its own standalone game in 2013. The mod was first released in 2012 to positive acclaim and talk quickly revolved around the development of a full game. Like many mods from the era, it offered enough of a gameplay loop to help people stick around and eventually demand more in terms of games content.
With the fact that it could be built around the rules that already existed within the Source engine, Cry of Fear came to life quickly. It offered players the chance to engage in a very interesting and engaging world. The majority of players liked the atmosphere and its unique, interesting setting. Like many Half Life 2 mods, Cry of Fear managed to use the slick gameplay to help create an engrossing world that felt plenty of fun to stick around.

WARNING: The use of some of these tricks, tips, and cheats might seriously ruin the immersive value of the game. It's not recommended to use them on your first playthrough. Play the game, finish the game, and enjoy it for what it is the first time you play it. Some of these tricks also make use of unintended flaws in the game, and involve modifications to settings, and as such Team Psykskallar may deny you support.
This cheat will essentially give you a clip that contains unlimited ammunition (you'll be able to fire an infinite number of shots without reloading or running out of ammunition). For starters you'll need to know how much ammunition the clip of the gun you want to use the cheat on holds. You can find out on our list of weapons. Switch to the weapon you wish to use the cheat on, and ensure it has a full clip (for this example we will use the Taurus Revolver which has a 5 bullet clip). Alt+tab out of the game to cheat engine.
Alt+tab back into the game, fire another shot, then repeat the above process again. Keep firing shots, and search subtracting 1 from the previous value. Carry on until there only 3 numbers left in the address window. Right click on the uppermost of the 3 remaining numbers
Now pick up another, or use one either by reloading, or injecting if it's a syringe (warning: don't use your last syringe). Then alt+tab out of the game and enter the new amount in the search box, and press next scan. Go back to the game and pick up or use another. As above, keep repeating this process until you're left with 5 numbers. Go through them 1 by 1, and right click on them and change them to "999". Eventually, when you change one, all the rest of addresses will change to 999. When this happens, the cheat will have worked properly.
Due to a known design feature of the goldsource engine upon which Cry Of Fear is built, in some places it is possible to use various items such as tape recorders and doors through walls. This will allow the player to skip some areas entirely, and speed up progress through the game.
Unfortunately it isn't possible to fully disable this setting in game, as for some reason the game changes it back again the next time you launch the application. However through a mod to a configuration file, it is possible to disable black and white mode permanently.
2: Navigate to "SteamApps\common\Cry Of Fear\cryoffear", and open "autoexec.cfg". You be presented with a dialogue asking you what application you wish to open the file with. Select notepad from the list and press OK.
Team Psykskallar have removed the usual command to change the field of vision in the game, however it is still possible to change it through a console command. Simply bring down the console using the "" key, and enter cl_fovmultiplier x (x being the number you want to enter. 1 is the default, 1.1 or 1.2 work best on most widescreen monitors).
Under normal circumstances it's impossible within the game to switch weapons using the mouse wheel, a feature the developers removed to force players to use quickslots, however it is still possible to do with third party software. 041b061a72
