Cannot get rid of a chrome extension malware that tries to open up unsavory advertisement windows every time I use Chrome. Running Windows 10 with Defender but did not have Malwarbytes installed at the time of infection. Since then have purchased premium version of Malwarbytes 3. Have attached "Addition.txt" and "FRST.txt" per instructions. Any help gratefully appreciated!

Hi Kevin -- thank you so much for the help. I still have the malware. Here are the logs and sequence of events: POTENTIAL PROBLEM: Not sure if this screwed things up or not but I ran I downloaded FRST and ran it but it got hung up on my blueray drive for some reason and I had to choose "cancel." Redownloaded the fixlist.txt file since I was not sure whether FRST made any changes to it and redid the FRST scan with a disk in the blueray drive. Hope that was okay.
I then restarted my Windows Defender (NOTE: It says it is now on occasional scan since I have other antivirus -- which I assume is my newly installed Malwarebytes 3?) Next I downloaded and ran the Emisoft Emergency Kit. It did not detect anything nor did it ask to reboot. Here is the result of the Emisoft Emergency Kit scan:
I am not sure whether I did something wrong when I first started (see note above), or whether I needed to deactivate my Windows Defender for everything (??) but Malwarebytes is still being forced to block websites that automatically want to open in Chrome. Incidentally, I do have a second computer networked to this one (my junker computer that I experiment on). I have not transferred any files between the two computers but thought I would mention it in case it is relevant. (I will be installing Malwarbytes 3 on that computer once I get this system fixed -- I bought a 3-computer license). Last but not least, can you tell me how I should configure Windows Defender (or should I even use it?) with Malwarbytes? It has opened several times to warn me that it is only doing periodic scans and I want to make sure I am doing things correctly. Thanks so much. Linda
Thanks so much Kevin -- this appear to have done the trick (knock on wood) and thank you very much as well for including the malwarebytes/antivirus settings. QUESTION: I now need to clean up my other "beater" computer which is currently switched off per your recommendation. Would you like me to continue that here or start a new thread? (It has the same problem -- popup browser windows -- plus for all I know could be riddled with who knows what since I've been using it to test downloads, etc.) Linda
As I mentioned previously, I paid for 3 Mb3 licenses to cover 1) my main computer (which we already fixed), 2) the beater computer (this one), and 3) a laptop with Windows 8 which I inherited but have not yet used. (When I turned it on some weird things happened. I cannot remember all the symptoms -- believe there were popup virus notifications but can't really remember since it's been nearly a year. I just shut it down after the first popup and decided to deal with it later. Anyway, that will be our last which we need to do !) Meanwhile, here are the FRST and Addition scan texts:
